Holla!
It's FRIDAY! Do you know what that means? It means it's really almost Monday (sorry to those of you who live for the weekend...), and Monday Ben and I are headed on vacation.... with.no.kids. I know. I can't believe it either. My mom and I were discussing how weird (yet glorious) it will be to wake up and have no one to change or feed and how I'll just eat meals when I feel like... where I feel like.... and for however long I want. And.... I won't have to say "hurry up Caleb" "stop talking Caleb" "take a bite Caleb" "take a bite Caleb and THEN I'll be Big Bird". (anyone else live with the SLOWEST EATER IN THE WORLD?!) Or... "Gracie... open" "Gracie say 'ahhhh'" "No ma'am, we don't throw food on the floor"
I love my kids a ton. I promise. But a little break sounds AMAZING. And I'm sure I'll miss them terribly.... actually, I'm a bit worried about that to be perfectly honest. I mean... a WHOLE week?! It's really a long time to be away. I'm leaving them in good hands (my parents), and I feel better about leaving because I know my kids love my parents (and my parents love my kids, thankfully ;)).
Speaking of meals.... kind of? Ben got a couple of requests lately to post another video of family worship time at our house. SO...even though I'm not Ben, I thought I'd go ahead and post one for him =). Here's one we just took of Caleb. I was feeling self-conscious because it was getting long so I ended it.... but Ben was like, "Why did you end it right when I was being rejected!?" hahaha ...oops. In case you also can't handle the ending, I'll have you know that Caleb DID in fact pound it with Ben right after I stopped the video.... ;) (also try to ignore Grace's screaming....)

Moving on... now that Gracie is a bit older, her nap doesn't QUITE overlap with Caleb's for the first hour (he goes down at 1 and she goes down at 2ish). It's kind of a bummer because usually by 1 I'm really ready for some down time, but I also kind of like being with just her for a little bit. Lately when 1 o'clock rolls around, I put Caleb to bed and Grace and I head outside to play for a while. She just runs around the backyard playing in the water (filling up cups and dumping them out), picking up balls and handing them to me, and gasping at anything and everything. It's pretty sweet.
This next picture (below) looks precious...and it is. But seriously, I was not having a good time when I snapped this picture although you'd never know it. Gracie bean was wearing a little jumper to bed with no bloomers. (I know, I'm the idiot). Anyway, little stinker took her diaper off and dumped the poop out into the crib. She managed to get it over most of her blankets, bumper pad, sheet, hands, feet and the crib itself. While cleaning it up, I managed to get it on MY clothes too. GROSS. Anyway, I put them on the floor together while I cleaned up. I would prefer a sweet picture like this to be taken under better circumstances... Note to self: Never ever ever ever ever ever let Grace in her crib with any sort of access to her diaper. Ever.
Let's talk about Caleb. Caleb plays pretend constantly. And, he tries to rope me into it constantly. He'll say "Mom you be ______ and I'll be _______" probably about 300 times a day. Anyway, Ben told me I should keep a log of who I am all day. I decided to write down not only that but also who Caleb was. So yesterday I did it but stopped at nap time. I'll share it with you.
It started at 7:10 am. (probably within 5 minutes of him waking up)
7:10-- "I'll be Pooh Bear and you be Christopher Robin"
7:40--"I'm going to sing a song and act like Mr. Brad, ok"
7:45--"I'm going to let off steam, I'm Gordon"
8:00--"I'm Berti the bus. Get your tickets and hop on board! --insert Thomas theme song"
8:20--"Mom you're Clarabelle, you should talk like her"
9:30--"Mom, let's be pigs"
9:45--"Let's play mickey mouse. Mom, you can be Mickey, and I'll make you hot chocolate"
10:15--"You can be the boys, and I can be Henry"
10:23--"Hi Mrs. Kappers! Now you say, 'Hi thumb'"
10:24--"Now you're Mickey Mouse"
12:10--"You be Bruno and I'll be Miss Honey"
are you tired yet? I was.
Is there such thing as too much pretend? I sometimes remind him who he really is just in case ;)
And finally, a pregnancy update: I'm in my third trimester. SERIOUSLY!??! Also, my back pain has gotten WAY better the last two days, so praise the Lord!!! I'm hoping I can do SOME hiking on our trip now, but for the last few weeks I was thinking it'd be impossible!
Thanks for listening. I'll be gone for a week and when I get back I'll have LOADS to talk about!!!
